In an interview with Politico.com on May 13th,2008, then President George W. Bush claimed that, if given the choice, Roy Halladay would be the pitcher he would build a team around, stating, “Roy Halladay from the Toronto Blue Jays is a great pitcher. He’s a steady guy, he burns up innings.”
Almost exactly a year later, like President Bush when he entered AA, I see the light. (Feel free to insert an obligatory joke about how few times President Bush was correct at any point).
Halladay was dominate in his winning, complete game performance tonight against the Yankees. When pitching, Halladay pounds the strike zone like a speed-bag, with a set of pitches that make it look like he’s firing shuttlecocks into the catchers mitt, and doesn’t allow the opposition to work counts, because before they know it, it will be 1-2-3 strikes you’re out.
President Bush, nice choice.
